How we select
In Liguria, beach lidos (locally: i bagni) occupy most of the shoreline in seaside villages. A good lido offers a sunbed, umbrella, showers, bar and often a restaurant. Prices vary widely: lidos in famous villages like Portofino and Camogli cost more. Booking in high season is almost essential. Always check what is included in the base price: in some lidos the sunbed is extra, in others the hot shower is paid. Quality shows in clean toilets and the attitude of the staff.

In July and August yes, especially at weekends. Some lidos accept phone bookings the day before; others have online systems. Contact details are in each individual profile.
In low season (May, June, September) almost always. In high season most lidos have reserved spots and do not accept walk-ins at weekends. Mid-week is easier.
